From Harvest to Heritage: Festivals That Light Up Punjab
The festivals in Punjab are a vivacious celebration of the agrarian background of the place and its cultural heritage. While Lohri is celebrated with bonfires and folk dances as a way to signify the end of the cold season, Baisakhi, which is the festival to usher in a new harvest season and the Sikh New Year, gives an opportunity to be happy and thankful to God for the luxury of life and the comfortable living environment. With Baisakhi and Lohri dinner being the main attractions, I am really looking forward to the festival. Ismail also promised to win the festival by playing the role of a girl. On May 4th, Hola Mohalla, which is a Sikh festival which displays the valiant and courageous side of the Sikh jatha where they hold sword fights, would be presented by the younger children. Diwali and Basant Panchami are such pretty times.
